Tour Details

We organize the Mangrove Forest & Bird Island Tour for you, so you can have peace of mind during your stay at Drake Bay Getaway.

Térraba-Sierpe mangrove forest park is the largest of its kind on Central America's Pacific Coast. Located 45 minutes from Drake Bay by boat, this tour explores the winding network of waterways that snake their way through the Sierpe mangrove forest.

The intricate patterns of the extraordinary tree roots and the intense greens and blues of the landscape are reason enough to experience this tour. Bird lovers will feel like kids in a candy store as they explore this majestic mangrove forest.

Térraba-Sierpe mangrove forest park is home to herons, egrets, cotingas, and osprey. It is also an excellent place for spotting sloth, agouti, river otters, caimans, crocodiles and tree boas. The tour includes a stop at Bird Island which has both nesting and frigate birds in abundance.

Over 50 species of fish swim in these waters and you might even see local families engaged in artisanal fishing or clam harvesting.
